To run our social awareness work, we partner with businesses that are committed to sustainability through our various initiatives, sponsorships, and memberships. That way we connect businesses to our Tribe and help our Tribe to identify sustainable solutions available in the market.
Our Sustainability Tribe Club Membership is not limited to only businesses but also caters to entrepreneurs, professionals, students, and individuals. They can also start their sustainability journey by gaining knowledge via our Sustainability Education program.

The journey of Sustainability Tribe started in 2009, with a humble blog, ‘Green Living in Dubai’ or lead-green-lifestyle.blogspot.com. Back then the word ‘Sustainability’ was not widely known/used and understood in society. Green Living in Dubai blog practically helped residents in the Arabian peninsula region to understand what is sustainability, sustainable lifestyle, and responsible consumption. Over the last 12 years, the Sustainability tribe has contributed to bringing positive behavioral change in societies and has created a Tribe of like-minded people, (we call them Eco-minded people). Sustainability Tribe has played a pivotal role in increasing the demand for sustainable products and services in the UAE and the Middle East by educating residents about sustainable consumption choices and inspiring Climate Action. Sustainability Tribe in a way acts as a bridge between the society and governmental and corporate levels when it comes to building sustainability awareness.
Sustainability Tribe is known to clear ambiguity around sustainability, has focused on giving tried and tested, practical tips. At Sustainability Tribe, we aim to keep things simple but technically correct as our aim is to create a conscious consumer movement where each of us can create a positive impact. And our journey so far proves that we have achieved that at some levels. Our Tribe regularly provide us feedback, how much they have learned and have made lifestyle changes since they joined Sustainability Tribe. The constant influx of reader questions is another measure of how our Tribe is engaged and wants more from us. One of our success stories is our #ZeroWasteUAE Social Initiative, launched in 2016. This initiative gained popularity, making our hashtag go viral on socials. So much is the popularity that our initiative created a market demand for zero waste products, infrastructure locally. Then in response to this market demand, many entrepreneurs started businesses in the UAE to provide zero waste solutions to our tribe. Even the bigger corporates like Carrefour and other supermarkets started refill stations or similar initiative to cater to zero waste warriors in our Tribe.
Our Tribe consists of readers from around the world not just in the Middle East ranging from industry and public sector professionals, students, and families. Sustainability Tribe is recognized locally and internationally and has been covered in many print and audio-visual media.

Society is still perplexed by ‘short term going green’ which is not always the solution. Plus many organizations greenwash their products or services to add more ambiguity. So we wanted our readers to have one reliable place to find out about sustainable and responsible consumption. We not only look at the sustainable features of products or services but even look at the overall sustainability, environmental practices of the organization we support. United Nation’s SDG includes Responsible Consumption and we are happy to do our bit to support it by building consumer awareness.

Sustainability Tribe starts with our little family of 3, which you can see in our logo; we call it ‘sustainable family’. Both of us husband and wife have been working as a sustainability consultant in the field of sustainable development for more than 12 years. Our friends and colleagues also call us Mr. and Mrs. Sustainability! So it was very natural that we adopted a sustainable lifestyle smoothly at our home. Sustainability is such a big part of our family life and work-life that after the birth of our son, we could easily find out our own path of making him Eco-aware and figure out green parenting to match our natural parenting style.
Sustainability Tribe was previously known and loved as Green Living in Dubai when it started in 2009. At that time there was huge confusion in minds of people about the word ‘Eco-friendly’. Many businesses opted for ‘green-washing’ their businesses and products, therefore Amruta, founder of the Sustainability Tribe decided to contribute her domain knowledge and educate people in UAE about region-specific sustainability. In Sustainability there is no one size fits all solution, especially when we are talking of the desert ecosystem of the Arabian desert. Sustainability requirements in this region are so much different than Europe, the Americas, and even the rest of Asia.
Slowly the UAE residents started following our journey of a sustainable lifestyle and started asking us their related questions. Sustainability Tribe created a dialogue of sustainability at the consumer end. Our Tribe grew over the years, many readers joined in and some sustainable brands and businesses joined our sustainability dialogue.
So in 2017, we thought it was time to call our Tribe of Eco-minded people in UAE and beyond, ‘Sustainability Tribe’!
