What is world environement day?

Hi Tribe, every year we celebrate world environment day globally on 5th June with a different theme. World Environment Day (WED) was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. WED is hosted every year by a different city and commemorated with an international exposition through the week of June 5. The United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), also created in 1972, uses WED to stimulate awareness of the environment and enhance political attention and public action.

On this day individuals, non-government organizations, community and youth groups, businesses, industry, and the media
organize activities to renew their commitments to protect and develop the environment. They organize activities such as clean-up campaigns, tree planting, colorful street rallies, green concert, essay, and photo competitions in schools and recycling efforts.

Why World Environment Day?

We are all part of nature, the environment, the ecosystem! We are neither really separate from the rest of the biodiversity not we can control the environment or above it.

Unfortunately, since industrialization, our human race has contributed significantly to environmental destruction and the result is climate change. And all the problems created by our unsuccessful attempt of taking things in our hands on this planet like world hunger, poverty, climate refugees, economic and political instability, etc.

World Environment Day has been observed to bring the attention back to the environment and the fact that we all need to act together for environmental stability and harmony. Because we can not keep consuming our way by overusing natural resources, in the end we are ones, humans who will suffer and won’t be able to survive on this planet. So for sustaining human race on the Earth, we need to act together and act now!
